Three Annie Sloan Chalk Paints We’re Obsessed with this Winter

Three Annie Sloan Chalk Paints We’re Obsessed with this Winter

Thinking of things to do throughout this inevitable second lockdown we’re having? We have the perfect solution for you. Get your hands stuck into some home decoration and DIY!

If you’re feeling a little stressed out by having to sand down and prime your furniture before you can crack on with the exciting part, Annie Sloan Chalk Paint is just the paint for you. It’s a really versatile paint that works beautifully on wood, metal, concrete, laminate, fabrics and beyond. With no need for sanding and priming, simply pop open the tin, roll up your sleeves, dip your brush into your favourite colour and get painting to give that dull chest of drawers you’re a bit bored looking at a gorgeous new lease of life.

At Stitch we have a pretty overwhelming selection of colours for you to choose from (over 34 to be exact!) So, we’ve made it easy for you. We’ve picked out three beautiful chalk paint colours that we’re obsessed with this winter, that way picking your next lockdown project this winter should be a little easier.

For our first irresistible winter pick we have chosen the colour Oxford Navy. We recently received a picture of one of our customers who had painted her bathroom walls with Oxford Navy and we were instantly obsessed. This inky, navy blue evokes fond memories of leaky fountain pens. Its rich pigmentation also points towards the indigo blue used in traditional Indian block painting, what’s not to love? This classy and fascinating colour looks so beautiful next to rich green indoor house plants and gold ornaments or wall features, making your space feel regal, trendy and charming.

Beverly (shop owner) recently described this colour as one that instantly makes her feel cheery and happy. How delightful! Inspired by the decorative pieces and interiors of 18th Century France, when the finest red earthy tones were mixed with white to create a clear yet dusky colour for walls, this soft, relaxing colour is ideal for lightening up that dark furniture piece you have in the corner of your room. Antoinette is here to lighten up your dreary, wintery day.

If this beautiful, soft pale pink tickles your fancy why not brighten up some of your own furniture this winter?

Our final favourite colour choice this Winter is Primer Red. This colour is a deep, rich colour found in most cultures around the world. Appearing in Vietnamese temples where red earths were plentiful, Primer Red can be used to create some gorgeous, rustic pieces in your home. Beverley recommends that it makes a gorgeous base colour for the more sophisticated Annie Sloan colours like Paris Grey or Versailles. As the colour is slightly darker it also works perfectly under gilding and dark finishing waxes.

Finish your Primer Red themed up-cycle with Annie Sloan’s Gilding Wax to add a metallic touch and to enhance the textures and detailing in a furniture piece of your choice. To help you learn a little more about gilding we’ve put together a fact sheet for you to follow, this will make life easier for you when giving your furniture that finishing touch. Available in 15ml tubes in five colours: Warm Gold, Bright Gold, Bright Silver, Dark Silver and Copper, take your pick!

We hope that we’ve inspired you to create your very own personalised up-cycle this winter with our three gorgeous winter colour picks.
