Find out how Beverley Ozard used local materials and artists to create an inspired look for this gorgeous Cornish holiday apartment, Ginger and Pickles’ newest Airbnb addition.
A tranquil space a stone's throw away from the beach….
Designer, textile artist and shop owner Beverley Ozard showcases her latest project in the heart of Cornwall. She combines quaint and traditional seaside-themed details with calm and contemporary interiors. Mixing a cosy aesthetic with a modern touch, this open-plan beach pad is the perfect place to hang out post-beach walk or surf. Throughout this project, Beverley worked on a minimised budget, to keep the costs down she left elements of the original apartment in place eg. the kitchen cupboards, sofa and chairs.
Making the most of a beautiful open space
Beverley’s vision was to prioritise cosiness as well as throwing in a contemporary seaside touch. In the lounge area, she combined Susie Watson’s Scandinavian style prints with local art pieces from her favourite art shops and galleries around St Ives. Beverley wanted to include as many local touches as possible as this area is famous for its beautiful art and textiles, she wanted to celebrate this by having lots of lovely local pieces in the apartment.
Throughout this process, Beverley wanted to steer away from the typical nautical theme that can be found in many seaside apartments, hence the use of vivid cushion prints and splashes of non-typical nautical colours.

Original art
To add a personal touch to the apartment, Beverley made this piece of original art. This sand dune-inspired painting was made using a mixture of stencils, spray paint and acrylic paints. This was easy to make with the right materials and worked so well in the large open planned dining area.
Clean & modern touches for the bathroom
To bring the contemporary touches to life Beverley made the decision to keep the bathroom simple, clean and minimalistic. With luxurious touches like mini toiletries from the local fragrance company Kitty’s Herbery and soft fluffy dressing gowns, this bathroom really does feel like a 5* hotel. Like the rest of the apartment, the original bathroom was inherited as it’s very new. Although it wasn’t her first choice stylistically, the bathroom has an excellent, luxurious quality to it and the finishing touches made it come together smoothly.
A Place to switch off and dream
For the bedroom area, Beverley has combined luxury seaside prints provided by local art shop, Cream Cornwall with handmade lampshades and luxurious bedding. This tranquil area of the apartment omits a simplistic feel and the cozy textiles brings the space right back down to earth.
